Membership
SSI is an organization in transition, from an original focus on two primary server elements: power supplies and electronic bays, to an expanded focus to include Modular Server Specifications. Many companies have executed the Adopter's Agreement, which you can see by clicking here. This allows access to the specificiations and provides a license to build products consistent with the specificiations.
As part of the expanded focus of SSI, the organization is taking on a new formal structure as an incorporated "Special Interest Group" or SIG. The SIG will have 3 classes of membership as detailed in a presentation you can see by clicking here.
Briefly, the Adopter class, which is available for annual dues of $5,000, provides
pre-release access to specs, the right to build product to the specs, intellectual
property protection for use of the specs and the right to participate in compliance
and interoperability programs including "plugfests" and logo programs.
The next level of membership is the Contributor, which in addition to Adopter rights
includes the privilege of participating in working groups and voting on the readiness
of candidate specs. The annual dues at this level are $20,000.
The highest level of participation is the Sponsor, which in addition to Contributor rights includes the privilege of chairing working groups, participating on the Board of Directors and voting on the specs for finalization. The fee to participate at this level is $50,000 and sponsors have to be nominated and voted in by other sponsors.
